Alooooha!!

Hi there! 

I'm back with a few more pics of our Hawaiian paradise!  It is Tuesday and we've been so busy with activities/touring etc.  Don't get me wrong - we've had some great relaxation time too!  AND - it is the first vacation we have been on where the days go by so slow.  It feels like we have been here forever - and we love it!

These next few pics will round out our time on Oahu for you.  On our tour we visited the Polynesian Cultural Center.  This is where several islands in Polynesia are represented.  Each island has its own separate area at the center.  You get to see the different island crafts, activities, culture, dress, music, etc.  This center was so lush with green foliage & flowers, not to mention the waterfalls & entertainment.  Here are a few pics...

 

 After leaving Oahu on Sunday - we boarded another plane on our way to the Big Island.  We were greeted at the airport with beautiful floral lei's, loaded onto a transport bus on our way to the Hilton Waikaloa Village resort. 

Our initial impression of the island on our bus ride was a shocker because all we saw on the entire ride to the resort was black cooled lava rock EVERYWHERE!  This picture is a little blurred because I took it from the bus while it was moving.  Take a look....

But when we arrived at the resort - let me just say FABULOUS PARADISE!  Here is one photo of a waterfall at the resort & also the ocean view outside the front entrance of our hotel complex.

  And then on Sunday night - Stampin' Up! held a Welcome Reception for the demonstrators & their guests!  Mackenzie & Mandy's daughter Allison posed on the pool bridge!  I think Mackenzie liked the Lava Flow drink in her coconut cup better than the Shirley Temple she anticipated!  Aren't the two of them just adorable?!!!!

Well that is it for now!  I don't have alot of photos from Monday - we spent most of our morning time at a Stampin' Up! breakfast & general session.  Then Scott, Kenzer & I spent the rest of the day at the pool!

Then on Tuesday (today) we rented a car and spent all day touring The Big Island.  What a treat and a great decision we made to do that.  We saw some awesome scenery, cliffs, beaches, waterfalls, volcanoes, sunbathing turtles and black sand beaches.  However, it was a very long day in the car and we are exhausted!  I'll get those pics ready for you at a later date!

Tomorrow - we have make & takes for me and Mackenzie & then we are at the beach most of the day soaking up the sun & waves.  Tomorrow night the kids have a "DIVE IN MOVIE".  Isn't that a cute name?  They sit in their inner tubes in the pool and watch Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

Aloha from Hawaii!

We arrived Friday afternoon (Hawaii time) and immediately checked into our hotel, headed to the beach, and ate after a long plane ride w/out much to eat.  Here are a few pics of our hotel & views of the beach from our pool......

  On Saturday at the wee 6am hour - we began our 12 hour tour of the island.  We started at Pearl Harbor.  It was certainly a great stop and a fantastic memorial of our fallen soldiers.  EVERYONE should see this once in their lives.  Here is a pic of the USS Arizona memorial.  If you look towards the right you can see part of the ship up out of the water.

Here is a pic of the Black Tears.  For those of you that may not know - this is black oil leaking from the ships hull and they call it the Black Tears.  Legend says that the tears will stop when the last remaining survivor of the USS Arizona attack passes on.  Our guide said their are only 24 survivors still alive today in their 80's.

Then we went onto the North Shore.  This is where Baywatch was filmed and where the professional surfing sports take place during the winter.  These are small waves but they get over 45 feet high.  The beaches are breathtaking.

Our next stop was the Dole Pineapple plantation.  BUT, I didn't know - Hawaii isn't producing very much pineapple anymore.  Most of the US pineapple now comes from Costa Rica.  So there wasn't much to the plantation.  A little tourist trap....but we did get pineapple & pineapple ice-cream - YUM!!!

A Good Egg

Hello everyone!

I'm trying to wrap all of my "to do" items up before we leave on our trip to Hawaii this Friday!  We are so excited.  I have to tell you a funny story first....Mackenzie (my daughter) is almost 12.  She is on spring break this week and then will be in Hawaii with us next week, and so ancy.  I had a stamping club last evening and on the way home - she laid back in the passenger seat of the car and said, "only two more days and I'll be sitting on the beach, soaking up the hot sun, watching the waves - and drinking a SHIRLEY TEMPLE!!!"  It was the slow relaxed way she said it that made it priceless - she's so funny and SO ready to go!

This first card is one that I did for my stamping clubs.  The inspiration for this card came out of a demonstrator only Stampin' Success magazine.  These magazines are awesome because they provide demonstrators with a ton of creative ideas and useful tools for our businesses.  I changed the stamp set though - and used A Good Egg instead.  It is what I call a "HINGED" card.  The card in the following photo just looks like a normal greeting card.  Take a look!

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street!!

Isn't this so darn adorable?!  I've seen cards created like this before on some other sites but I've never taken the time to make one - always meant to but never did.  This one was given to me by my dear friend and fellow demonstrator Glenda Schuermann.  I believe her daughter Michelle made the card! Great job!

Can you tell it was made with several of our punches?  It is a punch pal!  There are so many different characters and animals that you can create with our punches - so be creative and give it a try!  I'm sure a young one in your life would love this card!

My photo doesn't do the card justice.  Look closely above Oscar's eyes..you can see eyebrows!  Too cute.

More Botanical Blooms

This Easter card is very duplicatable for ALL different occasions.  Simply make multiples of this card but leave off the sentiment.  Then later when you need a special card - add your words and you have cards for every occasion!  Try changing the colors too - you'll have many options with this layout!

This Thank You card uses a few new items that I enjoyed playing with.  First - as you all know, I love the BIG SHOT.  I can't get enough of the ideas and fun!  I've used a new Stampin' Up! exclusive BIGZ XL die called the Movers & Shapers Curly Label (114506, $39.95).  My focal point was created with this awesome die and puts my Botanical Blooms image in a window.  The best part - is that with this die - you can move the window.  Here is a picture of the die to better help you get a visual of the idea.

You simply rearrange the movable piece to create a window anywhere on your card.  This die has been designed to coordinate with the Curly Label Punch Bundle (112966, $33.95) shown on page 185 of your Idea Book & Catalog.

I created my window - I stamped my Botanical Blooms image, punched it out with the Curly Label Punch and it fit right inside the window.

Botanical Blooms

Today's card is stamped with the Botanical Blooms set.  This was a February stamp club card.  Not only did we use the FREE SAB stamp set but the ladies also got to learn how to use the new Stampin' Up Texturz Plates with the Big Shot.  If you look at the Baja Breeze background you can hopefully see that we used the Harlequin texture.  The Texturz plates create subtle patterns and designs on thin surfaces, giving your project a great embossed background.  And they are so easy to use too!

Sweetheart Scrapbook Pages

Who are your SWEETHEARTS?  Sweethearts can be your significant other, your children, your pets, your nieces & nephews and other members of your family!  Regardless of who you call sweetheart here are some scrapbook pages where you can showcase the ones you love.

These pages were created for my February scrapbook clubs.  We got to use the Big Shot with the Scallop Circle Die, the new Circle Scissor Plus, and the Heart to Heart punch.  This new circle cutter is so awesome!  It is so different and so much better than the Coluzzle - in my opinion.  Circles now cut with ease - and you can even draw circles with it too!  You do need a glass mat to use this new tool.  Try it out - you'll be pleased!

Echoes of Kindness
